Bicol Region embraces the southernmost provinces of Luzon. Past Queson, the first province starts from Daet and stretches its territory up to Sorsogon and its island provinces- Masbate and Catanduanes. The whole region is called the land of raging fire for its scattered volcanoes of which most are active. Aside from its towering volcanic peaks, Bicol’s undiscovered coastlines, untamed wildlife and unexploited forests comprise the richness of its natural environment. Daet, Camarines Norte, the first province in the peninsula is a remarkable surfing destination. It has rolling curls for learners and walloping waves during season for advance surfers. Best places to visit are Bagasbas beach and Mercedes Beach.
Camarines Sur relatively has lush environment for adventure trips. Naga City, the business hub gearing up local business needs is the starting point to Caramoan Peninsula and Mt. Isarog- an extinct volcano. Mount Isarog is a favorite destination of mountaineers hungry for jungle experience and refreshing sights of streams, springs and falls, while Caramoan Peninsula is backdrop of rugged coastline surrounded by scattered islets covered with strips of white sand and hidden lagoons.
Caramoan has captivating blue water dominated by shorelines of rocky small islands, towering limestones, and beaches along the nearby coastal villages. A pure feast in the eyes, these small coasts of mostly white sand bars are hardly inaccessible by land and can be only explored by prearranged boat-ride. This inconvenience, however, retained the image of Caramoan’s rugged appearance as a true illustration of isolated wilderness. With this extreme simplicity everyone has to endure before getting in the area, villagers boast of having no unreasonable exploitation of their natural wealth. They are aware that Caramoan Peninsula still displays an image of seclusion and might disappear if constructed openly for outsiders.
Further down the long road of Bicol is Albay, a province of sheer beauty and home to the reining Mt. Mayon. Visiting some of its towns brings you to numerous historic churches nestling around the peripherals of this beautifully symmetrical volcano. And if still has the energy for a more thrilling adventure, Sorsogon is the ultimate province to exlore. Known for its rolling hills, hotsprings, sleeping volcano, hidden lakes and its underwater giants- the whale sharks and manta rays, unlike other places of Bicol, Sorsogon obviously is the finale of an absolute environmental tour.
For those who have never heard such abundance of nature, Bicol is an ultimate destination both for discovery and adventure trips.
